Description: I am not sure of the year but I searched ever picture on Google for Wilcox Crittenden compasses and can not find any with the design of the 8 screw heads and the internal dial details. I found similar designs for the internal dial but the body I found nothing even close. I think it is an early model as the original model has screws as well but less than 8. The diameter of the actual compass without the outer ring is 4 inches which is also rare as most are 2 & 3 inches. Compass seems to be very rare based on my research. The ring looks a little bents possibly and not sure if the box is the original as the screws look much newer and they are not long enough to attach to the compass. Also the box top glass is cracked - see last pic. Very cool rare compass with come nice brass patina - see pics!
