Estate sale find, vintage original restaurant menu from Hwa Mui (now Hua Mui) , No. 131, Jalan, Trus, Bandar Johor Bahru, 1957. The British invasion had an impact on local culture. The Hainanese descendants developed recipes and dishes with their very own flavors that the British and locals could enjoy. Thus began the journey of Hua Mui. Founded in 1946, Hua Mui has been at this same spot ever since. It's an example of the Mubibah or Goodwill type of kopitiam found in Malaysia where folks of all communities from children to seniors dine together elbow to elbow. Dishes from all cultures are found on the menu of the Muhibah type kopitiams (coffee shops). There are Western, Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes besides Nanyang coffee and toasts. Hua Mui continues it's operation today as the Original Hainanese Chicken Chop and has become a destination. The last images are for reference only and are not included in the listing.
