RICHELIEU Inc. was formed in 1933 in the city of New York. It was a cultured pearl manufacturer and the business was incorporated through the merger of the Heller-Deltah Company and Joseph H. Meyer Brothers. The former firm made Deltah, La Tausca and Bluebird pearls, the latter produced Richelieu pearls. As part of their manufacturing process, Richelieu pearls were coated with an iridescent foundation of nacre, (also known as mother of pearl) symbolising the beautiful simulated look of real pearls of the highest quality with stylish designs using gold plating, silver plating and platinum as the base metal.
