The detail is quite good and the item is signed by the painter. The largest doll is just short of 4 inches tall and approximately 3 inches wide. From my research, this appears to be relatively small for a 10-piece set. The only damage I can find, or see, on the item is chipped paint on the 8th doll in. This little doll is about .75-inchs tall and the chip is not very noticeable to the naked eye when handling the item. It is only in my zoomed photos that the chips became evident to me. The last three photos show these chips in some magnified detail. My husband and I went to Russia in the summer of 1993. I spent ten days there, my husband stayed for four weeks. He returned again in 1994 and spent a month. We brought back souvenirs. This is one of those items. The item was therefore made before July, 1994. Please look closely at the photos, they are part of the description of the item. Payment through eBay is required.
