Description: This goblet is in the same style as a German Reiner, made from pewter. Very good condition, slight wear. Needs polished. Selangor pewter is a high quality cast pewter that consists of 92% to 97% tin, with a small proportion of copper and antimony added to strengthen the alloy. It is heavier and stronger than spun pewter and produces a resonant sound when struck gently. Selangor pewter is lead-free and entirely food and drink safe. In the 1970s, the company started exporting, first to Singapore and Hong Kong and then to Australia. Towards the 1980s, the market expanded into Europe and later into Japan. In 1992, the company changed its name to Royal Selangor to reflect its endorsement from Sultan Salahuddin, the Sultan of Selangor,[4] dropping 'pewter' from its company name as its product range had expanded to include items from other materials.
