Description: Vintage Shakespeare GLASTIK Wonderod Bait Casting Rod #1190 5’2” This is a vintage one-piece with detachable handle Shakespeare “Howald GLASTIK” Wonderod bait casting rod. Tested in 1946 and released in the 1947 catalogue. This rod originally sold for $30.00 and was the first in the long history of Shakespeare Wonderod design. The rod has a double offset handle reel seat which consists of a 4 1/2” specie cork grip, black aluminum butt cap, 4 1/4” buffed green anodized screw/clamp locking reel seat, and a 1 3/4” black heavy plastic collet with ferrule. The rod has three (3) stainless steel frame spinning guides with Carboloy ring inserts and a like tip top. Blade is Wonderod white with red nylon guide winds and black nylon extensions. Specie cork has been cleaned, reconditioned, and sealed. Rod has been cleaned and freshly wrapped with its original hardware using vintage Gudebrod nylon. Finished with a premium grade of glass rod varnish. Rod weighs 8.0 oz. Rod section will pack separately in clear plastic sleeve enclosed in a heavy fiber tube for protection during shipping.
