Description: Satsuma refers to an area of Japan that's been known for its pottery since the mid 1600s. This small vintage vase is a nice example of theMidCentury output from that region. The hand painted pottery depicts a person on its front, accented with embossed golden paint. The bottom of the vase is stamped: Japan. The piece is in good, age-related condition -- there are no chips or cracks in the china, though a bit of its gold paint is starting to wear off the rim.The vase is approx. 2 3/4" high x 2 1/8" across.
