Vintage STEVE CANYON Lunchbox & Thermos - USAF Comics TV (1959) C-8.5 Awesome!

Description: Item Description: STEVE CANYON METAL LUNCHBOX AND METAL/GLASS THERMOS from Aladdin Industries 1959. This extremely rare R-7 kit features characters created by Milton Caniff in the long-running American adventure comic which ran m 1947 to 1988. Kit was made for the short-running TV show starring Commander Canyon as an Air Force pilot and commander of Big Thunder Air Force Base. This box is unique in that it is the only time the creator of a comic strip also designed and created a lunchbox. Famous for bringing realism with Steve Canyon to the Sunday comics page, Caniff developed this kit based on photos alone – “all the art was based on photos,” adding “No, I did not resemble Canyon.” Box includes an amazing array of USAF aircraft and weaponry with insignias of six Air Force Commands - with great color and action. Arguably the most interesting of all inside lid graphics of any lunchbox - depicting aircraft and personnel of the Strategic and Tactical Air Commands, NORAD and Air Training Command. We salute you Mr. Carniff! Condition: Box and thermos are complete and correct (including original wire thermos holder). Lithographed box panels on front and back are clean and glossy throughout - as well as all of the rim panels. Very light rim wear on front - just a bit heavier on back - with no corner dents or dimples. Inside of box is also very clean wit the aircraft layyout on lid in exceptional condition - with no prior owner markings. Box in overall strong Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition. Thermos lithos are clean with the throughout with no dents or dimples or rattles when shaken - with nice shiny bottom – in overall strong Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition.
