Nils August Lou (January 5, 1932- December 25, 2013) His kiln has been referred to as the grandfather of all woodfire kilns in the Pacific Northwest. He was the author of several books, videos and articles including “The Art of Firing” and “The Art of Play.” In his mature years as an artist, Lou stated that "Play is an essential part of being creative."
