Description: Sweet little jam or condiment jar shaped as a basket with beautiful luster glaze and apple blossom floral design. The handle is slightly offset to allow access to the spoon (not included). The finial on the lid is a pair of apples. Made by Tashiro Shoten Ltd porcelain shop in Yokohama. Logo mark is and Elephant below HANDPAINTED and above MADE IN JAPAN. Likely made for or the Japanese export market, circa 1940s (the company was in operation from before WWII until 1954). It measures 5” long x 3 ½” wide on the base (4 ½” at the handle) x 2 ½” deep at the base, 5 ¼” high at the handle. Great condition, some minor rubs, but no serious issues – no chips or cracks.
