Description: Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage OAKTRON part TS818 8 inch wide-range woofer, USA-made in 1962. As you may know, OAKTRON was a noted driver supplier to the domestic speaker industry. Per the EIA-format source/date coding, 91 225, this woofer was made by OAKTRON (91) in the 25th week of 1962. This capable mid/bass driver has an OEM stamp for Thoro Test.So, please take a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this OAKTRON mid/bass woofer is correct for your needs. This OAKTRON woofer is in clean, excellent condition. The sturdy paper cone is in perfect shape and so is the voice coil dust cover. Plus, the suspension is cone edge-integral; permanent in effect. And, the steel basket is painted in attractive light blue enamel and has no dings or noteworthy scratches, just some light marks from the decades, as pictured. Lastly, the +/- terminals measure the industry-standard .205”, are marked for polarity (red dot = positive side), and have been de-soldered for the new owner’s convenience. Overall, this is a nicely-preserved vintage driver. Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds terrific—strong and clear with clean, detailed mid frequencies and solid low-end response for the platform type. I also tested its DC resistance at 6.5Ω, consistent with a nominal 8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket measures 7½” across, 8” from corners, it stands 2¾” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 5½” adjacent / 7¾” on the diagonal apart, c-t-c.As pictured and described, this OAKTRON 8” wide-range woofer is offered at a competitive price.
