Description: Get M1 For The Road™Here at 'Get M1 For The Road', we're big fans of ALL things M1 helmet related! Lately we've found ourselves with too many M1 items and not enough free space, so it's time to thin the herd a bit. Our loss is your gain! Up for grabs - right here, right now, right away - is an M1 shell from the late 60's (Vietnam War Era) and a matching liner. Further details are listed below:Intelligence Brief: This helmet is complete, but it's been through a lot. It's seen some action, no doubt. I've had the liner (hardhat) and shell (lid) for a while, but I'm trying to trim the fat a little. I'm selling them together as a pair, but they were purchased separately a few years back. They're in good shape and there's nothing torn or broken off (like the webbing, rim, or loops/bails). On top of that, I'm including a net and helmet band for FREE. Keep them on the helmet or don't, they're free regardless. (They were given to me recently, but I have no use for them - perhaps YOU do.) This helmet's 'been there', so please look carefully at all of the photos before you even THINK about buying - I don't do refunds. Without further ado, here are all of the details: ----OPERATIONAL SPECIFICS----Liner SitRep: This one is a cotton duck version of the 'P64' model and is in decent overall condition. There's a stamp in the crown which reads "US 55". The liner/suspension is from 1965-9 (the year stamp is worn off, though) and the headband is from '86 (these bands got replaced often). The biggest flaws of the liner are: 1) The cool reddish-brown paint job on this guy has some issues. You can still make out the Specialist Rank decal on the front, but the Medical Corps decal on the side is nearly gone. Also, there's some 'residue' on the brown paint. You could probably clean it off, but I didn't want to mess anything up by doing so. 2) The 'A' washers have a touch of corrosion and 3) The leather of the band has seen better days. It's not brittle - but cracked. I do NOT recommend taking it off the liner. If you leave it alone, it should be fine. All that aside, it's in good shape. (The nape strap brackets have been taped off, but I see this a lot on 'fancy painted' liners - I can only guess as to why.)Shell SitRep: This one was made by the Parish Division of the Dana Corp. between 10/68 & 8/69. The heat stamp reads '6062', but it's hard to see in the pics. The chin straps are the '73 version and were added after the Vietnam War ended. There are no dents or cracks, but there's rust on the underside. As for the paint, there's some chips and scratches. (You can use the cover to hide them or display it nekkid to show off its battle scars.) The (re)paint job was PROBABLY done by a private collector, but it could be a military job, as it's not the greatest. As I mentioned before, this helmet's been through a lot. I can't say for CERTAIN that it saw action in Vietnam, but it definitely COULD have.REQUISITIONED SUPPLIES: I recently acquired this REPRODUCTION net and a helmet band to go with it. I have no use for them, so consider it an early Christmas present! FINAL NOTE: I usually have a number of other items listed as well. I WILL put together bundle deals to save you money. Just let me know before buying. Also, I have a few spare (post-WWII) M1 parts, so just ask if you're looking for anything in particular.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Please take a look at the pics and item specifics for any other information you may require. If you have any questions or need more pics, just ask - I'm here to help. At times, I DO end some listings early and without notice (if there are no bids or best offers pending). So bid, buy, or make me an offer early - before someone else does.Bundle Deals & Best Offers: In most cases, I CAN offer discounts if you're interested in purchasing more than one of my items. One example may be: buy one item - then get 10-40% off a second one (just let me know before buying/paying). I may also lower the price on certain individual items. I'm here to QUICKLY sell stuff, not to get top dollar. It never hurts to inquire about ANY listing(s), just keep in mind that someone else may buy it up in the time it takes for me to get back to you. So, please feel free to ask, as every polite offer or question will get a response!Payment & Shipping: Payment is expected within a couple of days and our listings are sold AS IS, therefore no refunds will be given. If you have any questions (or want more pics), please ask BEFORE buying. Also, if you have 10 or lower feedback, please contact me before buying.
