Description: This special Westmoreland Glass covered dish features a beautifully molded cat perched on the lid, rendered in heavy opaque turquoise blue glass. The base of the dish is shaped like a fancy openwork basket that the cat sits atop. I have seen it described as a butter dish and also as a candy dish. I cannot find much information on this piece, but I believe it was manufactured in the 1940s, possibly the late '30s. The eyes are like the plastic "googly" eyes of today, but these are a bit yellowed with age. I don't know if they are the original eyes or not, but probably. They are just glued onto the glass. The dish is in like new condition--no chips, scratches or cracks. This is a really great display piece, especially for a cat lover! The shade of turquoise couldn't be prettier! The approx. dimensions are: 9 1/4"h x 8 1/8"w x 5"d. The piece weighs 2.620 lbs.
