Vintage WISHING GATES Old New Orleans Print by Don Davey 1967 MATTED & FRAMED

Description: This charming lithograph print is the work of the late California artist Don Davey (1927-2014) and is entitled "Wishing Gates". These iconic gates are part of the old New Orleans landscape and a well known and much admired part of New Orleans' historical landscape. The print is dated 1967. Don Davey began his distinguished career at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He has served on the faculty of the Academy of Art in San Francisco and was instrumental in the formation of the American Society of Illustrators. An award wining artist with both gold and silver medals to his credit, the highly collectible artwork of Don Davey has a worldwide following. This wonderful print was part of an estate. It has been beautifully custom framed with a neutral beige outer mat. It is framed with a solid wood frame that features a raised gold-brass gilded border and is finished with a medium wood toned (maple?) stain. It measures about 15.5 inches tall and is 12 1/4 inches wide (framed), a nice medium size that will work in many spaces.The print is in very good condition - no stains, spots, holes or tears. The matting is in great condition with no spots, holes, cracks or tears. The wood frame has some age-related scuffing and wear, but is also in good condition. The paper covering on the back has a small tear and some ink marks (see photo) but this does not affect the stability or the picture. The cardboard on the back of the piece is securely attached; the original label for the framery is gone. The glass is in good condition - no chips or cracks. The hanging bracket is secure and sturdy.
