Description: Here is a very nice dining chair made by Workbench probably in the 1970s-90s timeframe. Workbench was a very interesting company that was founded in 1955 by Warren J Rubin when he opened a small shop in Greenwich Village selling bohemian furniture, slab sofas and mosaic tiles. The beginning collection evolved into an innovative product mix of Modern European and American furniture, and Workbench would eventually grow into a 50-store chain that had many years of sucess before going bankrupt in 2003. They had both Italian and Danish suppliers as well as a few American manufacturers who made their goods. I have another one of these chairs listed with a different finish and different fabric and I believe they were both Made in Italy. I will list the chair as local pickup only but will be more than happy to facilitate shipping at the buyer's expense. Overall Workbench was known for its mid-priced to upper end contemporary furniture and many people still fondly remember and use their simple, sturdy and elegantly designed pieces.
