Description: VINTAGE W.W. WOOD CUSTOM HANDMADE HUNTING KNIFE RARE W/ SHEATH Awesome heavy duty blade with custom etching along the guard and pommel with intricate pin pattern throughout the grips. Unused, uncarried, with some light patina along the blade. Some irregularities in the bone scales. 4 1/4” blade, 8 1/4” overall length. Bone handle, nickel silver guard, carbon steel blade. Comes with sheath. Tang stamped W.W. Wood on ricasso, and “129” on backside. Bill “W.W.” Wood passed away in 2017 at the age of 94. was born August 6, 1923 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Leslie Monroe and Oma Madora Farrar Wood. He was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School, Midwestern State University, Harvard University and MIT. Bill was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific. He was a manufacturing research engineer for Chance Vought Aircraft. Bill was also instrumental in the building of the Alaskan Railroad. He was a resident of Knox County for over 40 years. Bill was a naturalist, an antique gun collector, a knife maker, an author and enjoyed motorcycles, camping, canoeing rivers and hiking.
