Description: This vintage Zippo lighter features the USN USS Cochrane DDG 21. All surfaces are polished chrome. The bottom is stamped: Bradford, PA ||| Zippo ||| which dates it to 1968. There is no bottom line with Patent Number. I do not know if this is a stamping error or if Zippo discontinued the practice. It has been personalized to "JO" engraved into the back. On the front is engraved "SUBIE" which could be a reference to Subic Bay. The Cochrane was deployed multiple times in the Western Pacific to support operations in Vietnam and probably put into Subic Bay for repair and resupply. Or "SUBIE" might be "Subaru" as it is used these days. Although used, the condition is good, no evidence of mishandling or abuse, just some scratches from normal use. The hinge is snug.
