Visconti's proprietary 23ct Dreamtouch Palladium (rhodium plated) Medium nib adorns this beauty. Mint, boxed (generic Visconti basic box, not the original for this pen), with papers. Screw-on cap. This pen was produced by Visconti as part of the Homo Sapiens range.. reflecting on the ultimate evolution of humankind. It is characterized by Ruthenium-plated engraved metal cap and plunger knob, with palladium-plated metal rings on the cap and barrel, and the clip is made of palladium-plated metal. The cap is engraved with a wavy pattern, for an elegant effect. This pen's barrel is made of Visconti's proprietary basaltic volcanic lava polymer, the constituent basaltic material having been sourced from Mt Etna, one of Italy's active volcanoes. The material is extremely durable and hygroscopic, in an elegant dark grey-black colour. Unfortunately factory settings are not optimal for some fountain pens that are new "out of the box", and occasionally tuning is required. After purchase and before sending each Visconti fountain pen fitted with a large Dreamtouch 23kt palladium nib, I will remove the nib unit, put it in my tester pen, and check (and adjust as necessary) to ensure it writes correctly. Then I will wash the nib unit through, clean it and put it back inside the purchased pen. In this way I can be sure the pen will write correctly. Some minor droplets or ink/water residue may become apparent around the nib or inside the barrel when the pen is received, as a result of air pressure changes during courier air transport. I will warrant the performance of the nib unit as a consequence of the aforementioned procedure. If the buyer prefers this procedure not be undertaken, a message to that effect should be left with the order.
