VOGUE ITALIA MAGAZINE-JULY 2024-BAD BUNNY-Brand New

Description: VOGUE ITALIA MAGAZINE-JULY 2024-BAD BUNNY-Brand New His albums debut at #1 on the charts. His feat.s have a global reach. And so do his looks, which are redefining fashion rules. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, aka Bad Bunny "I don't really have a beauty routine. I just wash my face with soap and water, simple as that." This isn’t a quote from a TikTok maven, but from Bad Bunny, one of the most famous pop stars on the planet, debunking one of pop culture’s most immovable truths: being a celebrity doesn’t necessarily mean obsessing over skincare. As we write, Bad Bunny's most significant tour to date, aptly named The Most Wanted Tour, has recently wrapped up. From February to May, he rocked nearly 50 stages across the United States. These concerts are already etched in history books, not only for their record-breaking ticket sales but also for the sheer magnificence of the show itself. Picture this: a grand 10-minute orchestral introduction, followed by Bad Bunny taking the stage astride a horse, dressed as a masked cowboy. Talk about making an entrance – and, undoubtedly, there's no shortage of budget here. We connect via Zoom while he's in Los Angeles: "The concept behind the show comes from my latest album. The part with classical music, more pompous, represents how I feel now, my position in the industry, in music, in life. The Old West scenarios, on the other hand, tell the story of my beginnings in the ‘hood, making trap music and telling stories of the street. There's a bit of my two natures within this live show. It's like reliving all that’s happened since I started, it's already been eight years. Time flies." It flies even for those with a boring job, never mind for him. The things he's done since he started could fill at least eight, nine, ten lifetimes of us common mortals. In just a few short years, he went from uploading songs on Soundcloud to feat.s that topped the charts (I Like It with Cardi B and J Balvin, Mia with Drake, just to name a couple), and then he never stopped. Over the course of his career, he has released 5 albums, collaborated with Rosalía, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, Rauw Alejandro, and many others. He’s been a guest of Shakira and J.Lo at the Super Bowl. In short, one could say he was "the first Latino artist to do a lot of things". Like releasing a Spanish-language album that debuted at number 1 on the American charts. Not to mention headlining Coachella. Plus he was also the first to have an album nominated for “Album Of The Year” at the Grammy Awards (Un Verano Sin Ti was the most listened to album in the world in 2022, ed.), and was the most streamed artist in the world on Spotify for three consecutive years. All this without ever forgetting where he started. Not bad for a kid born in Puerto Rico just 30 short years ago. This latest tour came after the release of Nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana last autumn. It was a surprise album release, following his announcement that he would take a break. Spoiler alert: there was no pause. "It's practically impossible to stop me; I think about music even when I’m asleep. While I'm working on one project, I always have the next one in mind. I like to make the things I think about real.” Essentially, the nightmare of every lazy person. Before embarking on the tour, he was enjoying some down time in Puerto Rico: "This time it was harder to start because I was really chilling at home," he tells us with a smile. Much of his free time is spent there, where he was born: "I go to the beach, to places where no one can bother me. I spend a lot of time at home with my family, go out for a beer with my friends, basic stuff like that." What about the parties and celebrity gatherings? That question takes us to the second myth about celebrity life that's starting to crack: when he's not relaxing, Bad Bunny doesn’t party, he works his ass off. How do you mentally prepare for a tour that keeps you away from home for six months? "I try not to think about it much. I generally don't think much about tomorrow," he tells us. A phrase that perhaps represents the great divide between those who truly get things done and those who would like to, but figure it’s not so bad staying home and thinking about doing them.
