Excerpt from Book Attuning to the rhythm of natures voice brings us closer to hearing her cries of pain when she is being forced to give up a piece of herself and also to her cries of joy when she is being heard and understood. The greatest challenge is to understand that the natural world is not separate from mankind; it is the part of us that recognizes ourselves. The sun rises each morning and sets each evening as we do. We--and nature--have our gloomy days when we need to be introspective and our sunny days when we are outgoing and fun loving. Nature--like us--has a time to rebirth, a time to grow and a time to die. Mother Nature also shows us the give and take of destruction and devastation. We take from her and she balances this act out. Our thoughts are evident to the universe and when we become overburdened with the cares and worries of our daily lives and feel overwhelmed, beat ourselves up and judge others, nature becomes our jury and shows us through her powerful being how our thoughts and actions are destroying us. The strength of our relationship to our natural surroundings is strong and the birds, animals, fish and insects that share this beautiful space with us have our best interests at heart. They continuously communicate with us through their presence and actions. Animals, whether they are wild or tame, have an energy that is closely related to that of ours. Each species has their own characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. When there is an unusual or repetitive visitation by a certain animal, it is wanting your attention in order to deliver a message to you. It could be a communication from your favourite deceased pet or a message asking you to be aware of something presently going on in your life. Your attentiveness to these messages can bring you peace. Once a situation is revealed to you, you are able to deal with it before it becomes more difficult. You also Balboa Press Submission Form 9 learn to appreciate awareness of something greater going on in your life than you may have been previously conscious of. The stories in this book will give insight into many different situations involving animals. You will become aware of the timing and interpretation each of the authors display as they tell their stories of tuning into natures messages. Messages are very rarely given to anyone served on a silver platter in a clear, connect the dot pattern. They are, however, delivered in a way that leaves no doubt to the receiver of the message as to the meaning of the communication. The love of animals is evident in each of these stories and the connection between us human animals and our furred, feathered and finned friends is strong and sound. It is apparent that we are all here to teach and learn from each other. I know some amazing people. It is inspiring to have such a great group of teachers around me. I hear a variety of stories from my students, especially in Reiki classes as we discuss the five principles of Reiki. One of these principles is to "honour every living thing." Awareness of this concept often brings up stories of connection with animals. Following are two examples of the many tales I hear whenever animals come up as a subject: Ladybug Magic One of my students, Denise, adopted a ladybug for the winter. She found the ladybug in her house and gave it food and water for a few months as it was too cold to put it outside. She didnt keep it in a jar or locked up anywhere. It was allowed to make its own choices and come and go as it pleased. She didnt have to do this and many wouldnt be bothered, thinking it was just a bug, but Denises heart is big. To honour the ladybugs life when she found it had died, she gently laid it to rest in one of her plants. As told by Denise Kendall who grew up on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, but now lives in Grande Prairie, Alberta. She has been blessed with a beautiful singing voice as well as a beautiful heart. A ladybug in your life is magical. It offers protection from the opinions of others and often comes around when you are moving forward spiritually--which is exactly what was going on in Denises life at that time. When she no longer needed it, the ladybug moved on. In one of my animal spirit guide classes, a student told me this amazing story of an incident that happened on a family trip. Her family was coming back from the funeral of a young relative who had been hit by a car while crossing a city street. In their grief they Balboa Press Submission Form 10 maintained that, without a doubt, the accident could have been avoided. While discussing the seeming impossibility of not being able to see someone crossing the street, a moose appeared on the road right in front of them. The driver had to swerve into the ditch to avoid hitting the animal. Was that a message? They sure thought so! We receive messages from nature every day, but it is our lack of attention and knowledge that prevents us from making the connection between what is going on in our world and how it affects everything around us. Once we begin to see the interrelationship between ourselves, our planet and every living thing on it, things change. Our awareness brings in a new perception and an ability to see things differently; creating a long lasting, mutually benefiting energetic correspondence with all.
