Description: Vintage 1920's toddler girl ensemble. Handmade from cotton lawn material-transparent fabric with a checkerboard pattern, with embroidered gathered sleeve cuffs & dress yoke, Hem is ladder stitched and the seams are all enclosed-made by an accomplished seamstress. There is a tiny brass colored safety pin at the back neck to fasten the dress opening. The dress is about 19.5" long & 20.5" wide at the hem. There is also a cotton slip, also with enclosed seams & this too would have been fastened at the shoulder with safety pins. Small leather soled black Mary Jane shoes with single button closure and a 3.5" celluloid rattle completes the set. Someone long ago cherished this set as they were found together in a box at a local estate sale. In good vintage condition, with small stains on the fabric from storage, crackles in the finish of the shoes with edge wear & no noted damage to the rattle. Would be great for dressing a larger doll from the period.
