Description: Vintage 1940s-50s Frederic W. Ziv Co/Western Electric World Broadcasting System, Inc. (WBS) 16" red translucent wide-range vinyl LP disc with original sleeve; Disc #224 "Santa Claus Songs" (side 1) plus "Santa And His Christmas Kids Audition" (side 2) children's Christmas programming. Ziv Co. owned WBS from 1948 to 1960 but the discs do not have printed dates. I haven't played this record, but it appears to be in great condition with no scratches, and the sleeve looks great as well. World Broadcasting System, Inc. was an American recording service for the radio industry founded in 1929 in New York. The company recorded and distributed discs to radio stations for broadcast. The discs were 16 inches in diameter, vertical-cut, recorded at 33-1/3 R.P.M. and would play for 15 minutes per side on average. These recordings- not sold to the public- were made especially for radio studios that could not afford a studio orchestra and featured the music of popular vocalists and bands as well as jingles, sound effects, and narrated stories and historical events. Classic collectible from the golden age of radio! Check out our store for similar vintage items.
