Description: Shaman ritual tray. My grandfather was an engineer in Latin America from 1930s to 1990s. He once described a trip surveying along the Amazon. When suddenly his team was stopped by a stream of flying darts around their heads. It was a sign that the survey team had reached the border of the indigenous people’s territory. The team was eventually greeted and shared roasted Caiman. He told me it tasted like chicken. Rikbaktsa Tribe, Jurene River, Mato Grosso, North Brazil 1980/90 Plaited fiber, wood, feathers, twined natural fiber, and cotton. mukru fibers which dark brown outer layer is scraped off to reveal the yellow fibers underneath.
