Description: Fra Angelico was an early painter of the Italian Renaissance known for his light filled depictions of religious scenes. These angels are among the most famous and popular paintings of Fra Angelico. They are 2 of the 12 Musician Angels from The Linaioli Tabernacle. The angels are shown as eternal celebrants of the glory of God. The 2 images are full color lithographs affixed to the gilded wooden boards hinged together to make a dyptich. The images have deep, rich colors and are protected with a thin coat of non-glare lacquer coat. The prints are mounted on gold leafed boards decorated with applied pressure frieze gilt on the front and back. The whole piece measures 12" tall by 12" wide when fully opened (5-7/8" when closed). The boards are about 1/2" thick. In very good condition. Made in Italy. Some slight wear on edges, not uncommon in Florentine. See photos. Beautiful in person!
