The inside of the band is marked "14K" but ring has tested 13K via XRF thermo/electronic scanner. The one carat discrepancy in the gold is due to the item being handmade. The gold assay requirements in the 70's and 80's was less stringent than it is today. This item has been professionally appraised by Everett Designers of Fine Jewelry in Clarksville, MD for a retail value of $2,200. The appraisal is included in the sale of this auction. The ring is preowned and has very mild wear that can be seen upon magnification. The stone is securely set into the prongs, but has a tiny bit of wiggle in the setting.
