The number "eight" has a very positive and auspicious meaning in Japan.Seto Sometsuke(瀬戸染付):the color is created from the indigo color of Gosu paint, and is based on the technique of finely drawing birds, flowers, insects, and landscapes on the surface of porcelain, as well as the firing technique to create glossy paintings. Seto Sometsuke ware is designated as a traditional Japanese craft. Also the item is painted with traditional technique called Copperplate-printed transfer, that has been passed down to one of the few ceramic studios in Japan, making it a very rare and valuable item.Copperplate-printed transfer, which originated in Europe, was introduced to Japan around the end of the 19th century in Seto and the neighboring Mino region. A technique, the design is copperplate printed on Japanese Washi paper and the paper is stuck onto bisqueware and water applied to transfer the design. Each piece is transferred by hand and fired to create the pattern. Unlike items transferred by machine, it is possible to express hand-painted shading and detailed patterns. Even the same pattern can have its own individuality, such as uneven coloring and uneven painting.Seto ware(Setoyaki 瀬戸焼):The world's leading high-quality, white-fired pottery clay produces ceramics with beautiful glazes and paintings. It is a rare production area in Japan where both pottery and porcelain are fired. The porcelain is characterized by beautiful blue and white painting using a paint called Gosu. PLEASE see ALL photos, and message us, with ANY questions.※Since each item is handmade, there are irregular color, color pooling and color variations during firing in the actual item. ■Shipping: Free Shipping - FedEx or Japan Post with tracking service.- Hundling Time: The item will be shipped within 10 business days after your payment is confirmed. ■International Buyers - Please Note:Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges.
