Description: Amazing vintage "Lady Madeline & Lord Chumley" figural teapot/music box. Fantastically kitschy. The figures have a charming Lefton-esque feel to them, and the lady, with her big tired wedding cake dress, looks very Marie Antoinette to me! Hand painted and made in Japan in the 50s. I have seen this teapot elsewhere branded as Tilso, but this one has a Benton sticker and is marked "T-135" underneath the music box. The whole thing stands about 8" tall. The lady's mouth has, uniquely, been painted somewhat off center, which makes her look extremely unimpressed () with Lord Chumley! The music box does wind well, and it technically works, but it gets stuck pretty frequently. The tune is, of course, "Tea For Two". It is also removable, and I would absolutely recommend you take it out when washing to prevent further rusting. EXCELLENT overall condition!! No chipping! There is some small cracking around the feet of the handle, and a small stain on the base at the front. But this is still in very nice shape for its age.
