Description: THIS HELMET HAS BEEN REPAINTED. THE ORIGINAL COLOR SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN RED. Offered here is a vintage fireman's / fire fighter's helmet. The exterior front has a leather patch, badge or shield marked, "FIREMAN...10..K.V.F.D." I'm not sure what city this is from. The "V.F.D." probably stands for "Volunteer Fire Department" the first letter, (K) could be any number of small towns or communities that begin with "K." I'm GUESSING, (perhaps?) Kingsbury, Texas. The underside of the bill is embossed, "MSA" - which is "Mine Safety Appliances." There are series of 2-digit numbers embossed under the rim: "62 - 63 - 64 - 65 - 66," and believe that this was made in the 1960's - give or take. The condition is VERY GOOD. As mentioned, THE YELLOW PAINT IS NOT ORIGINAL. IT HAS BEEN REPAINTED AND GREEN TAPE HAS BEEN APPLIED ON BOTH SIDES TO FORM A CROSS. Where the yellow paint is chipped, you can see that the helmet was originally RED. It has some wear and soling from normal use - no serious flaws . The helmet displays very nicely.
