VTG Official NASA 1971 Apollo 15 B-&-W Press-Kit Photo: Lunar Landing Site Map Click images to enlarge Description This auction is for an original vintage 1971 (5" by 7") black-&-white Official NASA Press-Kit non-digital photo on (KODAK???) gelatin-silver photographic paper. This photo was taken during NASA’s Apollo 15 Lunar Mission in 1971. This photo shows: Lunar Module landing site map with path followed by Lunar Rover. Function/Use: The American federal government printed “press-kit” sets for ALL of the NASA space missions’ photographs were given to various press agencies all over the world. These press-kits were very good propaganda for the United States of America. Even the Communist-controlled countries behind the Iron Curtain were liberally-supplied, at no-cost, with such official press-kits (from whence this photo came) to show the %#*@$ Commies what good ol' American know-how could do! This photo is from the press-kit set that was supplied to the Czech National Press Office (CTK) for publication in newspapers in Prague, Czechoslovakia, now known as the Czech Republic or Czechia. I purchased a large lot of these NASA space mission photos whilst I was an English teacher living in Prague during the 1990s. PHOTO WILL BE SHIPPED VIA USPS PRIORITY MAIL WITH INSURANCE! Print Type: A standard gelatin-silver-process print. No manufacturer mark, but it is likely KODAK paper. This is a high-quality photograph for the time period in which it was taken & produced. However, the astronauts’ photo-taking technique skills were not always good & there was no “Delete” button if a snap-shot was not perfect. Wear-and-Tear: In excellent condition. No folds, no creases & no dog-eared corners. Some age-tanning to the backside of the photo. Mark(s): The back of the photo is rubber-stamped with the seal of the CTK & a serial number (perhaps placed there by NASA). In addition, the photo has a hand-typed slip of paper glued to the back which explains the photo subject(s). The language of the paper slip is Czech.
