Today I am offering this fabulous vintage and very hard-to-find plate by designer Massimo Vignelli for Sasaki. Produced in 1995, this is the Very de Gris green color from Sasaki's Colorstone line. I believe it was designed to mimic the appearance of the patina on old copper known as verdigris. This is a discontinued pattern. This minimalist plate is kind of a cross between jade and celadon green. It looks matte at first glance, but it actually has a subtle grainy appearance glossy finish. It's considered a textured pattern, but it's smooth to the touch. The rim edge has an unglazed off-white matte finish. These clean lines give it a definite zen mid-century modern vibe. It measures approximately 7" across the top. It's the perfect size for salad, appetizers, lunch/sandwich, dessert, cake, etc. The printed hallmark on the underside reads as follows: SASAKI Colorstone Vert De Gris Vignelli Designs Inc. Made in Japan The condition is vintage excellent. It appears to be unused, new old stock. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing. I don't detect any unsightly utensil marks. Even the underside rim is pristine with no shelf wear. Maybe extremely minimal superficial surface wear if you are scrutinizing it under a bright light. But I'm just nitpicking right now when in reality I can't find anything negative to say. These do not come along too often so don't sleep on this deal. I have included a screenshot from Replacements-dot-com showing their asking price of $14 for each plate. They only have 3 left in stock. It will look great with any mid-century modern or minimalist theme decor. At the time of this posting I have twelve of these plates available. They are all in the same condition.
