Description: This vintage hair piece is a beautiful piece of Native American jewelry. It features an overlay design, and was made by renowned Hopi artisrt Bernard Dawahoya. (1935-2011) Bernard was a Master Hopi silversmith. Member of the Snow Clan, from the Second Mesa village Shungopavi. Hopi name Masaqueva, which means "Wings of the Sun". He began silversmithing in 1956, learning from his master Hopi silversmith uncles Washington Talayumptewa and Sidney Sekakuku, and also took classes at the Hopi Silver Crafts Guild. His works are included in the collection at Harvard University's Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology as well as at other museums from California to New York. In 1998 he was designated an Arizona Living Treasure. Bernard's hallmark is called a "Snow Cloud" Hair Piece is aprox 3" and the stick is 4.75"
