Shows lovely mermaid riding a sea monster with a trident in one hand and a sword at the monster’s throat in the other hand. It also looks like she had wrapped her tail around the monster. Partial tag on the back shows this was made by Royal London. It is made of Brass. Measurements: 8” long x 1-1/4” wide Weight: 4.5 ounces Comparison to MMA version: 9-1/2” long x 1-1/2” wide Weight: 6 ounces Nice condition- shows very little wear. Metropolitan Museum of Arts (MMA) also made a reproduction of the Unger Brothers mermaid letter opener. It is a little larger than the reproduction made by Royal London. The MMA version is popular in silver plate. See above. In the pictures it reflects against itself and surrounding surfaces. It is in good clean condition.
