Description: Brass stirrup hilt with the “Weeping Eagle” pommel. Vertically fluted bone grip with a crack running up one side, as seen in the pictures. The original black leather scabbard is included, but it is in poor condition. The buyer can decide if it is salvageable. Brass mount rings will be included as seen in the pictures. Curved 22″ single-edged blade. Overall length 33-3/8" long. Scattered pitting on the blade. Brass guard and eagle pommel have a pleasing patina. I believe it was made by Henry Osborne of Birmingham, but I cannot verify, it is simply a best guess based on other websites and listings. Blade appears to be free of any decorative options available for soldiers at the time. This makes it a unique piece of history that will be an excellent addition to any military collection!
