Clean any residual grease in the threads of the crank. Apply new waterproof grease to the threads of the pedals. Get on the opposite side of the bike from the pedal you are installing (facing the hex key socket). Stick your hex key through the pedal hole and into the pedal's socket. Guide the pedal's threads into the hole and turn the key clockwise (for both left and right pedals) until very snug. The hex makes installing and uninstalling a heck of a lot easier.
