Description: This item is the original cover so the title for the fifth song on side two “Black Night” is not listed. From the back cover: Fairfield, Texas is the birth-place of the inspirational blues artist Willie Willis, born and raised on deep religious beliefs, soul food and the living blues. Willie especially remembers getting hooked on a particular recorded song written and recorded by John Lee Hooker titled “Boogie Chillen," prior to Willie entering the U.S. army in 1949. During his tour in the Army, Willie met country singer and guitarist Grady Young. Willie then purchased a guitar in Korea and he and Grady formed a small group and performed country western music together in Korea. Upon completion of his tour of Army duty, Willie studied guitar for three years at McCord Music in Fairfield, Texas. In 1955, Willie arrived in Dallas, Texas, which he used as a base for making public appearances and perfecting his performing skills. He began performing locally and ventured out to other locations, such as Memphis, Kansas City, and Oklahoma City. In 1960, Willie had an opportunity to record his first record titled "Good Black Night," written by Willie and Fats Washington, former writer for Johnny Ace on the Ride label. In 1983, Willie recorded a composition called “Black Night" on the Kris label, a hit for Willie that made his name as a prominent blues artist the world over. In 1988, Willie recorded a single on “Compton’s Soul Staff Records. His album released this year 1989 is titled "Blues, Food For The Soul.”
