Defect has been repaired with a special, colored, epoxy filler. Its appearance can be minimized by finishing the stock in a darker tone.This is an issue-style buttstock machined for an original-issue Winchester shotgun-style buttplate, as fitted to early original Winchester Model 1892 rifles and the earliest 1894 rifles produced prior to 1937. Buttplate area measures approximately 1-3/4" wide and 5-3/16" high. Later Model 1894 rifles were fitted with a smaller shotgun-style buttplate.Our Winchester Model 1892 and 1894 stocks are intended ONLY for early original firearms, manufactured before 1937. They are not correct for recently manufactured, reproduced or re-introduced models. Despite rumors and claims to the contrary, these later models are not exact reproductions of original Winchesters.
