Description: August 16, 1945 issue of the U.S.S. Charles Ausburne Radio News Press, a shipboard newsletter that provided military information and world news to the crew. This was designated the "Victory Issue" as it was printed two days after V-J Day, the date the Japanese surrendered. VERY rare military ephemera purchased from the estate of one the crewmembers. 8" x 13" when unfolded. Consists of cover, followed by two one-sided pages, followed by three double-sided pages, followed by final page with victory dinner menu on front and back blank cover on rear. Some expected wear but in overall great condition for age. The U.S.S. Charles Ausburne was a Fletcher-class destroyer commissioned in 1942. It served in the Pacific campaign and was the flagship of what was called the "Little Beaver" squadron. Its missions included the Battle of Cape St. George.
