Description: WORLD WAR II POSTER 1943 “A CARELESS WORD, A NEEDLESS LOSS” ORIGINAL, NOT FOLDED, FABRIC MOUNTED This is an original World War II propaganda poster, issued by the U.S. Office of War Information in 1943. Mint condition – never folded. The art work is by Anton Otto Fischer (1882-1962), a famous magazine illustrator. Printed at the bottom: “OWI Poster No. 36. Additional copies may be obtained upon request from the Division of Public Inquiries, Office of War Information, Washington, D.C.; U.S. Government Printing Office: 1943-O-506018.” An internet search of the poster title will show that this is one of the important and most sought-after posters from World War II. The illustration depicts a dead sailor on a beach with water rushing over his body. A sobering image, but beautifully painted with great coloring and composition. The poster measures 22” x 28” (56 cm x 71 cm). Professionally mounted on fabric-backed art paper in a 33” x 27” black metal frame. Never folded. Please ignore the reflections on the plexiglass in some of my photos. Shipping costs reflect the cost of shipping three different ways: $59.95 in the frame with the plexiglass in the frame; $22.95 with the frame parts disassembled and included but the plexiglass not included; and $9.95 for the mounted poster rolled up in a tube mailer with the entire frame not included. You choose the shipping option. PLEASE DO NOT PAY BEFORE ADVISING ME OF YOUR PREFERRED SHIPPING OPTION. I am not a dealer but rather an individual trying to clean out decades of accumulations from my house. Please contact me with any questions. Please look at my other current eBay listings. Thank you.
