Description: You are bidding on a BEAUTIFUL example of a WW1 French Army M1886/93/16 Lebel Spike Bayonet! It comes complete with the original scabbard! This bayonet pattern fitted to the M1886 Lebel and M1907 Berthier rifles used by the French Army during WW1, and was the third version of the M1886 (which was revised in 1893 and 1916). This version had a simplified flat locking button and was manufactured without the quillion found on earlier types. The brass handle was another expediency measure to increase production – German silver (cupro-nickel-zinc alloy) was the original material. Made of brass and steel, this Lebel Bayonet is in EXCELLENT condition considering its age. Features a BRIGHT cruciform spike blade, steel hilt with muzzle ring, brass grip, and tubular steel scabbard with frog loop. Some slight marks and wear, but nothing that detracts. Serial number is clearly stamped into the side, along with various manufacture inspection marks. Scabbard is original to this blade, and matches in condition. Blade is the earlier LONG variant, with a total overall length of approx. 25". A PERFECT addition to any collection or display! Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
