J.S. HalbertJoseph Samuel Halber was born on 17th September 1871 at Owen Sound, Ontario. He attested at Orangeville, Ontario on 9th Dec. 1915. He was transferred to the 19th CMGC at Witley on 22 Aug. 1917 and to the 2nd CMMG Brigade on 8th June 1918. Around midnight on October 8th/9th, 1918 whilst in a funk hole with three comrades near Sailly-lez-Cambrai a bomb from an enemy aeroplane made a direct hit on them, killing all four men instantly. He was buried in Haynecourt British Cemetery, France.His gravestone inscription is "A LOVING SON, A TRUE HERO".Very fine with a replacement ribbonGuaranteed genuine.
