Description: What a find!! An ash tray made for Louise Mayer of Baldwin Locomotive Works out of barrel stock from the 37mm A.A. (Anti artillery) gun from the prototype T1-E2 heavy tank, built by Baldwin. The ashtray is dated December 7, 1941, the day before first T1 - E2 left the Eddystone PA Baldwin Locomotive plant. This date also happens to be the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. The piece of barrel the ashtray is made from measures out at exactly 37mm inside diameter, you can also still see the rifling inside. We believe this piece was made to commemorate the release of the T1E2 tank and given to someone who was instrumental in its development. As much as we tried, we couldn’t find much info on Louise Mayer. This piece is a must have for any WW2 or locomotive collector!
