Description: Original WW2 German map of the area around GLOGAU, SPROTTAU & BUNZLAU, which now forms part of modern day Poland. 1940 edition. The map was clearly captured by the Allies, and eventually found its way to the map library of the M.O.D.'s 'Directorate of Military Survey', before it was finally removed from the British military archive with a number of 'CANCELLED' ink stamps. However, before reaching the M.O.D. in the 1970's, I believe the map probably spent a number of years in FRANKFURT at the 'Institute for Applied Geodesy' (IfAG), which utilised existing German maps to assist with the Allies' Cold War mapping of Germany. (Whilst there are no specific ink stamps present to confirm this, I have other maps from this source which followed the same route through the archives.) From a large collection recently sold off by Edinburgh University - hence their own ink stamping to margin. (From time to time, the government distributes excess stocks of its surplus maps to various national institutions.) Please see my other WW2 (and WW1) maps, photos, documents, kit etc. (Seller's Ref - U1045)
