Description: Please feel free to make an offer. A bronze hand bell used by an ARP Officer / Warden during World War Two. The bell was used during The Blitz & other bombing air raids to signal imminent Danger from enemy attack from above. They've also been used as Scramble Bells to muster RAF pilots to their aircraft as quickly as possible. Made by Quality makers Fiddian. The Fiddian name stamp also gives you confidence that this is both a genuine & authentic original piece. There's one of these in the Imperial War Museums collection in London. It's stamped "Fiddian" around the brass collar & on the bell itself "JB" & "39" with "A.R.P." around the rim. A great item & still very functional if you wished to use it. Approx 10" tall & 5" in diameter. In expected used condition for an item of this age & nature. The lightly coloured handle looks like beech. It contains it's original chain & clacker as lots of bells have them missing. Please study the images as they also form part of the description & please do your own research. All UK postage includes the extra cost of being signed for, for added peace of mind. Positive feedback is always appreciated.
