Description: As I have finished in the condition section, I'll start here.. This is one of the coolest violent things I have ever seen ! (Beside the few trench maces and truncheons)Here we have a polish interwar Perkun bayo., Wz 28 or Wz 29, I'm not completely sure, obviously heavily (field) modified into an extreme fighting knife. It's 'base', a Perkun produced 1920s bayonet is extremely rare item to begin with. On top of it, all other unique features make it an incredible and symbolic historical artifact.I've had this knife for some time now, and have spent great amount of time researching and studying it. I've acquired it through the rather large WW2 german lot, almost exclusively of the authentic SS stuff, and this specific knife was somewhat vaguely presented as custom 'nazi' dagger. When I finally had a time to take a good look at it and analyse it's features, I to my amazement figured this must be some rare and fascinating polish resistance stuff.. A rather obscure interwar polish manufacturer, a pretty rare bayonet, and such wild features as cut n' spiked pommel, specifically carved grip, and an obvious but not so well known polish 'home army' emblem. And that's not even all.. so much insane engineering and details have gone into this fighting tool, for instance, it's grip was 'widened' by the stylized piece of thick leather, for better ergonomics or grip strength I guess, also only one side of the grips have been crudely checkered, which can be coincidence, or deliberate and viable technique - to always be aware of the orientation of your tool/weapon, even when in the complete dark - a practice that draws it's origins from the trenches of WW1. I've been dwelling for months, how this thing was carried and used, only logical explanation of those nasty leather straps, was to carry the knife most probably in boot, but tied with those same heavy duty leather straps just under the knee for stability and security while drawing. I even tried to test this theory, and to make things more interesting, in this carry configuration, the spike (if knife withdrawn) functions as a single spiked "knee-knuckle" ..Insane stuff. All this makes me ponder.. that this was designed by and for a very aggression/despair motivated and passionate individual - which is in line with the whole heroic and ultimately tragic story of Warsaw uprising.. for more emotionally intensive context please see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BjIYKq4CVk In the end.. one must or can not 'neglect' the fact that this was obtained from the wartime nazi based origin, and considering we know our history - it's rather sad and obvious how it must have been obtained (by the germans). This was almost certainly a german war trophy ... and that is the only reason why I'm not keeping it for myself ! ..that and the fact that I'm not polish. None the less a fascinating historic object and the testament of suffering, struggle, heroism, bravery, tragedy and history of violence.
