THE WAR ON THE EASTERN FRONT!! These amazing images, each approx. 8.25" x 11.25", were printed on the backs of Ration Currency Sheets intended for the wartime Spanish population, which is why the text is in Spanish. Many have Spanish Civil War or WW2 dates! There are ten ration coupons for commodities such as rice, bread, sugar, salt and beans on one side earmarked for different towns and a single large full color image on the other. The perforations around the coupons are visible on the image and lend it a 3-D look. The images look hand painted due to the archaic silk screen printing process. Most of the scenes are related to the Division Azul (Blue Division), Spain's most elite fighting forces that voluntarily fought side-by-side with Nazi troops in identical uniforms. Francisco Franco, the dictator of Spain, dispatched them to the Eastern Front in return for aid rendered him by Germany during the Spanish Civil War. Most of the battle scenes are from Russia 1941-43, but there are others, too. The Buy Now price is PER sheet. Every sheet you order will be different and shipping is free for any additional sheets.
