– 1/28/11 – featured an opening in-ring promo by Vickie Guerrero in which she said, due to the injuries he sustained the previous week, Teddy Long would not be at the show and she would take over the duties of general manager; moments later, Randy Orton interrupted, said he appreciated being invited to the show and would take the WWE World Title from Mike Mizanin at the Royal Rumble; Dolph Ziggler eventually came out as Orton continued to intimidate Vickie, and told him to show Vickie and himself proper respect; Orton followed by saying Ziggler would have to earn respect, then dropping him with the RKO; included Todd Grisham conducting a backstage interview with Cody Rhodes, who refused to show his face, regarding the facial injury he sustained the previous week at the hands of Rey Mysterio Jr., with Rhodes saying he had a broken nose, would require reconstructive surgery, and has been told by doctors not to compete in the Royal Rumble match; Rhodes went on to say a fan heckled him on his way into the arena and said he wasn’t dashing anymore, with Rhodes then saying he agreed; featured Jack Korpela conducting a backstage interview with World Heavyweight Champion Edge regarding the attack he sustained the previous week at the hands of Corre and his match later in the night; included a backstage segment in which Alberto Del Rio introduced himself to Michael Tarver; featured a “Did you know?” graphic which read more people attended live events in 2010 than the SuperBowl, NBA Finals, World Series, Stanley Cup, and X Games combined; included an ad promoting The Best of Raw 2010; featured a video package recapping the history of the Royal Rumble match; included a “Did you know?” graphic which read Smackdown had its largest audience ever the previous week, continuing its reign as the #1 show on SyFy: Michelle McCool & Layla defeated Kelly Kelly & Kaitlyn at the 41-second mark when McCool pinned Kaitlyn with a boot to the face as Kaitlyn fought with Layla on the apron Drew McIntyre pinned JTG at 4:37 with the Future Shock after blocking a backslide; Kelly Kelly sat ringside for the duration of the bout; after the contest, Kelly came into the ring as McIntyre left ringside WWE IC Kofi Kingston won an impromptu mini Royal Rumble by eliminating both Alberto Del Rio and Kane at 2:42; Ricardo Rodriguez served as Del Rio’s ring announcer for the match; prior to the bout, Del Rio cut an in-ring promo saying he had 39 wrestlers from all over the world backstage and he would prove he was destined to win the 2011 Royal Rumble by winning an exhibition match over those men; order of entry: Seth Allen (0:00); Mike Stevens (0:46); Kane (1:37); Kingston (2:37); order of elimination: Allen by Del Rio (0:21); Stevens by Del Rio (1:10; off camera); Del Rio & Kane by Kingston; after the contest, Del Rio & Kane surrounded Kingston in the ring until Rey Mysterio Jr. ran out to even the odds; moments later, Vickie Guerrero came out to the entrance stage and ordered the four men to compete in a tag team matchRey Mysterio Jr. & WWE IC Champion Kofi Kingston defeated Alberto Del Rio & Kane at 15:39 when Kingston pinned Del Rio with the spin kick to the face after Kane kicked his partner in the face and walked off, with Mysterio then hitting the 619 on Del Rio The Big Show pinned Heath Slater (w/ Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, & Ezekiel Jackson) in an impromptu match at 1:17 with the chokeslam; prior to the bout, Show cut an in-ring promo in which he said he had never won the Rumble but would do so Sunday, then commented on the Corre before Barrett, Gabriel, Slater, & Jackson surrounded the ring; after the contest, Show fought off Barrett and Gabriel but was taken down by a clothesline from Jackson; moments later, Chris Masters, WWE US Champion Daniel Bryan, WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov ran out and eventually helped clear the ringRandy Orton & World Heavyweight Champion Edge defeated WWE World Champion Mike Mizanin (w/ Alex Riley) & Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero) at 11:26 when Edge pinned Ziggler with the spear after avoiding the Zig Zag; prior to the bout, Miz cut an in-ring promo in which he said Orton dropping Ziggler with the RKO earlier in the show means nothing because he was still the WWE World Champion and remain such after the Royal Rumble; after the contest, Vickie took the mic and said she was banning the spear as a move and if Edge used it at the Royal Rumble he would lose the title; moments later, Edge hit the move again, knocking Ziggler off the apron to the floor; he then hit in a third time on the floor, then a fourth when he tried to give it to Vickie but she moved out of the way at the last moment
