Description: WWI Fund Raiser Goodbye Old Man Print Fortunino Matania a Soldier's Kiss Poem Click images to enlarge Description Fortunino Matania (1881 - 1963) was the equivalent of our war correspondents today by portraying the reality of WWI trench war on canvas. He was commissioned by a British animal welfare group in 1916 to paint an oil painting for a fund raiser that would enable the care of countless wounded horses and mules used on the battlefields. His painting called "Goodbye Old Man" was accompanied with a poem by Henry Chappell called "A soldier's Kiss". The hand tinted lithograph is matted but unframed. It measures 14 1/4 inches by 9 3/4 inches. Payment Paypal will be the only form of payment accepted.
