The side rim has a flag like Japan Mint hallmark and the number 1000, indicating that it is made of pure silver. The puppet state of Manchukuo modelled its institutions on the Japanese. The Imperial orchid crest of Manchuria was chosen to match the Japanese Imperial mum crest. Two Imperial feng huang, male and female phoenix birds adorn the obverse.
