This is a signed commemorative cover (envelope) featuring a cinderella stamp highlighting the dropping of the atomic bomb in World War II. The stamp is based on a design created for use by the United States Postal Service. However, the USPS stamp was rescinded after protests from the Japanese government in 1994. The stamp is a cinderella stamp that was not printed by the USPS and is not valid for postage. The cover envelope features the stamp with a “FIRST DAY OF NON ISSUE” cancellation designated Columbus, Ohio (where Tibbets lived in his later life) and August 14th, 1995 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the date that the official announcement of Japan's unconditional surrender to the Allies was made public to the Japanese people.
