Description: STK: #BAYO-8Brought to you by CAMARILLO TRADERS specialists in new, used & antique arms, collectible militaria and rustic ephemera WWII Japanese Type I (Italian), Type 38 and Type 99 Rifles Type 30 School Training Sword Bayonet ONLY (NO Scabbard) Manufacturer: Scrubbed, Worn Model: Type 30 Blade Length: Approximately 15.50" Serial #: 26 TEXT GOES HERETEXT GOES HERE --> Offered here is a Japanese Type 30 bayonet that fits Type 30, Type 38, Type 99 and Type I rifles. Scabbard is NOT included. Several manufacturers made bayonets during WWII such as Hikari Seiki Seisakusho, Matsushita Kinzoku, Riken Kozai, Toyokawa Kaigun kosho and Toyoda Jido Shokki Seisakusho (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works). Early bayonets had the hooked quillion, fullered blade, contoured grips with escutcheons screws and birds head pommel. Later bayonets removed the quillion, fuller and had a straight wood grip as they tried to save time to crank out the bayonets. Training bayonets were not produced to military specifications, so often times, these did not mount to service rifles. Typical features of training bayonets are shallow/sloppy fullers, no arsenal markings, thin crosspiece and poorly fitting press studs. School bayonet scabbards were made crudely with simple welded frog loops and integral metal throats. Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition, considering its age and history. The press catch is functional with stiff spring tension. The pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They both have impact marks and light oxidation. The metal has started to turn a dark gray patina color. The screw escutcheons securely fasten the grips. They have scrapes and oxidation with light tool marks. The wood grip panels have compressions, draglines and scrapes. The wood has started to darken with age. The spine, sides and fullers have light handling marks and scrapes, but no notable wear. There are no nicks or dings and it appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is NOT intact. It has a small impact mark and comes to a dull straight point. The finish is in the white and most of it remains. The manufacturer markings have been scrubbed and the serial number is hard to read on the back of the pommel. What is visible is "2 6". The scabbard is NOT included. This bayonet will be a great addition to your Japanese rifle, or a bayonet collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards. Please see our photographs for a better understanding of the contents and its condition. Shipping: Calculated.
